For over 50 years David Garfield has been making and sharing his music with delighted fans all over the globe, recording and performing with jazz legends such as Freddie Hubbard, Willie Bobo and George Benson, and pop stars Boz Scaggs, Cher, Van Morrison, as well as R&B legends such as Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and Natalie Cole.
Starting out primarily as a jazz artist, he expanded his career by collaborating with many of the greats in the studios of LA but always continued to perform his own music with his own bands both locally and on tour.
Over the years he has collaborated with Michael McDonald, The Rippingtons, Patti Austin, David Sanborn, and countless others. Notably, some of the musicians that played in his bands have gone on to become very popular working in bands like Toto, Sting, Jeff Beck, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor.
After spending over 30 years as George Benson’s musical director and keyboardist, off and on, he has finally decided to focus on presenting his own music which includes many popular original songs of his as well as innovative covers, with over 23 million streams to date, and frequently heard on Sirius XM Watercolors, Real Jazz, Music Choice and many other stations.
His love for and relationship with the piano is a lasting story which he recounts during his shows, sharing classic experiences he's had with legends and icons he's been privileged to know and work with. Whether he performs solo, trio, or even with a larger band, his playing shines and inspires as he effortlessly leads and connects all the musicians with each other and the audience too, for a truly memorable and enjoyable musical experience.
